Common questions
How accurate is the patio material list?
It is a close estimate for a rectangular patio. Pavers include 5% extra for cuts and breakage, and base gravel includes 10% extra for compaction. Curves, steps or lots of cuts can need more.
Why 4 inches of base and 1 inch of sand?
That is a common setup for a foot-traffic patio on well-drained soil. Driveways, clay soil or cold climates often need a deeper base, so check with your supplier or local code.
My pavers are a different size. What do I do?
Pick your size from the paver dropdown. If it is not listed, use the paver calculator, enter your exact paver length and width, and use that count instead.
When should I hire a pro?
Consider one if the area needs major grading, has drainage problems, is a driveway, or sits next to the house foundation where water must flow away.
